Lemon Blooms

It may be laziness, or maybe just a little disinterest, but instead of visiting the local "Unique" thrift shop today, I searched Etsy for "vintage wallpaper", instead.
I just haven't found much at the local thrift stores lately and I ALWAYS find inspiration on Etsy, so it seemed like a sure thing, and it was!
I found "Lemon Blooms", an adorable shop offering vintage wallpaper, fabric, accessories, and footwear. I've collected vintage fabric for over ten years and have finally decided to limit my purchases until I make more use of what I already have. In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to window (monitor) shop!

It's kind of like asking nicely without having to say anything at all...

'Sexy Bats' Tattoo Tights
by post on Etsy
$23

I'm more into real tattoos, but I bet these would be cute on someone that doesn't already have tattoos on their legs!
Maybe for Halloween?

Katie Daisy - The Wheatfield

Feminine florals, hand-drawn illustrations, bright colors, and encouraging words, oh my! Each refreshing design offers something completely different but clearly shows her personal style. I love it! Keep up the beautiful work, Katie!

Berkley Illustration

I've always loved portraits of people with animal heads. Or maybe these are just animals dressed as people? It's hard to tell, but either way, I love seeing animals doing people things and especially animals dressing in people suits! Reading that over, it sounds like a Dr. Seuss rhyme or something...

Fatal Sweets

Pocket mirrors and pin-back buttons with doe-eyed portraits on them by Fatal Sweets.
Aren't they lovely? There's even one wearing a fascinator! Or a "hair pretty", as some might say. ;)

Sunny Champagne

I love the way Pascal Champagne (his etsy shop is called "Sunny Champagne") layers different colors and textures, but in a very subtle way. Sometimes design can be so obvious that it's abrasive. I love his style. It's so very mellow and comforting.

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

I hate when I'm all sleepy-faced when I'd rather be busy-bodied.
What do you do when your body doesn't feel the same as your brain?
When even caffeine is powerless?

I'm heading to the gym in hopes that my body will get with the program.
Hoping my sleep-walking will turn into sleep-exercising.

Blaim it on the rain! I mean, the bicycle!

[artwork by hillarietasche on Etsy]

My posts have gone from every couple of days, to a couple of times a month. I just wanted to take this opportunity to place a little blame on a few things: my mustard yellow 1979 Schwinn Caliente (aka the "Kelliente" as Ryan likes to call it), Netflix, and my boyfriend, Ryan.

My priorities have seemingly come and gone along with the month of April, and I'm more than okay with that. I cannot lie... I'd rather be biking than blogging, netflix'ing than networking, and snuggling than selling. Maybe this new attitude and outlook is what sent the first "smally and tally" sale our way! My "Librarian" print sold on Etsy last Friday to a lovely lady from Tulsa! Hip hip hooray!

[get a print for yourself here for $5!]

Now back to Netflix. I mustn't keep it waiting...

It's All in a Name

Do you ever come up with a cute and clever name, but you don't know what to do with it? I was just baking some cinnamon rolls and thought that it would be cute if I had named something "l m n o p" or "Q & A". So cute, right? Maybe? heh Well, I looked to see if they were taken on Etsy and this is what I found:

I'm tempted to message them both and just say, "Hey! Your shop name is so cute! Why don't you add something to sell?" :)

But, I'd totally be the pot calling the kettle black. I have 4 shops *gasp*, and two are momentarily empty:

Happy Place Design - all handmade accessories and upcycled vintage designs
Smally and Tally - the shop I share with my boyfriend to house our art prints
Stereotype - meant for all of my type-style accessories that I'm currently designing
Some Wood Say - a little hush hush project I'm working on that I hope to have up and running in the next couple of months

Why four shops, you ask? Because I'm a busy lady with a gazillion ideas that never end. I sew, design graphics, draw, spray paint, cut, glue, make jewelry, write, create, and recreate things all of the time. I gained a particular entrepreneurial gene from my father that I don't think will ever pass. I have a thousand ideas from day to day and I want to sell all of them and share them with the world. It's silly, I'm sure, but it's me. Even if I never make a sale, it's in my genes to put myself out there, and I'm completely okay with that.

Maybe this little post will give someone the strength to put themselves out there if they've been a little too shy to try. Or maybe "lmnop" and "QandA" will see this and will add some pieces to their shops. Sometimes all people really need is a little encouragement. :)

Never Stop Creating,
Kelli

Happy Thoughts

We all need a little help cheering up every now and again, and this time, I decided to help myself out by making this brightly colored treasury full of a few of my favorite things on Etsy. It's already helping me to take my mind off of things. I hope it adds a smile to your face like it has to mine.

Maybe a few Etsy purchases will cheer me up even more...

Have a happy and safe Friday!

Headband vs. Brooch - The 2009 Debate

Okay, so the decision of whether to keep this as a brooch or morph it into a headband, won't fix world hunger or cure cancer... It won't even help anyone out other than me, really. BUT, I would love your advice!

Do I need to coax you to get you to comment with your words of wisdom? How about I send you a free brooch or headband, your choice, if I pick your number?! Leave a comment below with your opinion, and I'll pick a number using a random number generator and that corresponding comment below will get a free goodie! You have until Valentine's Day/Night at midnight to be eligible. I have to set some boundaries, right? :)

I'm thinking of adding new styles to my shop, so your opinion will really help me out!

Yay for giveaways!!!

New Felt Brooches!

I was a busy bee this weekend and added this new owl and these new brooches to my etsy shop. Like the other handmade items in my shop, I made them out of vintage fabrics, vintage buttons, and felt. They're all six bux, too! I hope you like them!
