Lemon Blooms

It may be laziness, or maybe just a little disinterest, but instead of visiting the local "Unique" thrift shop today, I searched Etsy for "vintage wallpaper", instead.
I just haven't found much at the local thrift stores lately and I ALWAYS find inspiration on Etsy, so it seemed like a sure thing, and it was!
I found "Lemon Blooms", an adorable shop offering vintage wallpaper, fabric, accessories, and footwear. I've collected vintage fabric for over ten years and have finally decided to limit my purchases until I make more use of what I already have. In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to window (monitor) shop!

Headband vs. Brooch - The 2009 Debate

Okay, so the decision of whether to keep this as a brooch or morph it into a headband, won't fix world hunger or cure cancer... It won't even help anyone out other than me, really. BUT, I would love your advice!

Do I need to coax you to get you to comment with your words of wisdom? How about I send you a free brooch or headband, your choice, if I pick your number?! New Felt Brooches!

I was a busy bee this weekend and added this new owl and these new brooches to my etsy shop. Like the other handmade items in my shop, I made them out of vintage fabrics, vintage buttons, and felt. They're all six bux, too! I hope you like them!

I'll take an Economy, please. On the rocks!

I've just made an executive decision. Oklahoma is supposed to be recession proof, right? Well, I do know of people getting laid off. Even though both Ryan and I work for craft supply retailers, and should be fine (everyone's making things by hand in these tough times, right?), I still can't help but wonder what we would do if we, too, were laid off. So here's my executive decision:



We'll sell everything we own that's worth anything and buy a retro trailer on craigslist. We'll drive it around and park it in random places and just craft and make art inside, all day long. That doesn't sound so bad, though...

This one is really cute, too!



I need to remind myself that a steady paycheck and benefits are important. Even though the thought of crafting full-time, inside an adorable retro trailer sure sounds nice!

Okay, now back to getting ready for tonight's Christmas pre-party with the family! I'm bad at stalling getting ready by googling random things. It's just so entertaining, I can't help myself...

From Neck to Toe

Just a little note about kerchiefs.
They're easy to sew, easy to wear, and easy on the eyes.
I made this one out of a vintage dress.
Pair with a tee, vest, or minidress.
They go with just about everything!

Take Five: My last name is not Crochet!

Let me introduce you to: dollyknits





I LOVE kerchiefs! I make mine mostly out of vintage fabrics. I don't like necklaces so kerchiefs are the best neck accessory for me. Here is one I made a while back.



I love dollyknits' collection! She has very stylish headwear for men and women, too! I love when people take a very common design and craft it in a surprising way like knitting a silhouette that is typically sewn out of woven fabric!

I'm really into crocheting right now. I'm on my third collar and plan to make scarves for my relatives for Christmas! I'll be adding the styles I have available on my etsy soon, I hope! When I was born, the nurse at the hospital called me Kelli Crochet, instead of Crockett (like Davy...). I guess I was meant to crochet from birth! <3
